Dear Faculty and Staff,
I am pleased to announce that Sandy Jansen will join The University of Texas at Austin as Chief Audit Executive on January 22, 2019. In this role, she will lead the Office of Internal Audits, collaborate with the Institutional Audit Committee, oversee quality assurance and serve as an advisor on improved business practices across the university. We welcome Sandy back to her home state.
Sandy has more than 20 years of experience in public higher education, including extensive experience managing audit teams. She is currently the Chief Audit and Compliance Officer at The University of Tennessee System. She earned a degree in accounting from Texas Tech University and has held various roles over many years at the Texas Tech University System, including Assistant Director of the Health Sciences Center. Sandy also serves the profession as the External Relations Chairperson of the Association of College and University Auditors.
I thank our Institutional Audit Committee chair Will O’Hara for co-chairing the selection committee with Senior Vice President and CFO Darrell Bazzell. I am grateful to Mike Vandervort who served as Chief Audit Executive for 27 years and retired this past summer. Finally, we appreciate Jeff Treichel for serving as interim Chief Audit Executive since September and through the transition to Sandy Jansen.
