Phil Canfield graduated from The University of Texas in 1989 with degrees in business honors and finance. Now, decades into a career in private equity, with many achievements and successes to his name, Phil views his business honors experience at UT as a turning point in his life — an opportunity that helped define him, both as a person and as a professional.
Today, I am pleased to announce that Phil and Mary Beth Canfield have provided a transformative gift to support business honors students in the UT McCombs School. As a recognition of their generosity, the program that forever changed Phil’s life and the lives of so many other McCombs graduates will now be known as the Canfield Business Honors Program.
The CBHP is an undergraduate degree program that provides students with opportunities to learn in small classroom environments and experience a curriculum modeled after case-based MBA graduate studies. The Canfields’ generous $20 million gift will help fund student financial aid and recruitment and expand the impact of the CBHP across the nation.
Phil has often said that supporting students and their success produces the greatest return on investment possible. The Canfields’ gift will not only take the McCombs School’s Business Honors Program to new heights, it will provide greater opportunity than ever before for business students to come to the Forty Acres, pursue their dreams and make vital contributions to society long after graduation.
Sincerely,
Gregory L. Fenves
