Rich Reddick Appointed Senior Vice Provost for Curriculum and Enrollment and Dean of Undergraduate Studies
Dear UT Community,
We write to inform you that Dr. Richard J. Reddick has been appointed Senior Vice Provost for Curriculum and Enrollment and Dean of The School of Undergraduate Studies. This role and unit are central to the future of our university as we seek to produce more students who will go out and change the world. Dr. Reddick will lead our efforts to attract talented students, provide the support and resources for them to succeed and flourish, and help them best position themselves to follow their passions after graduation. Professor Reddick, who is a fellow of the H.E. Hartfelder/The Southland Corporation Regents Chair in Human Resource Development in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy and the College of Education’s associate dean for equity, community engagement and outreach, will begin his new appointment August 1.
In this leadership position, Dr. Reddick will be the champion of the UT undergraduate experience, driving innovation and working to ensure that our admissions, curriculum, student support and career exploration efforts align in ways that best position all of our students to succeed. He will direct the newly consolidated Undergraduate Studies portfolio, which brings together the critical functions of enrollment management, undergraduate academic support, career exploration and curriculum innovation in a strategic effort to strengthen undergraduate education across our entire campus. As the university’s new “chief student success officer,” Dr. Reddick will work collaboratively with the deans in the colleges and schools to integrate strategic academic initiatives and coordinate programming so that our students have the pathways and resources they need to maximize their potential and success, both before and after they graduate.
Dr. Reddick, who is an exceptional leader, teacher and scholar with expertise in higher education leadership, administration, planning and social policy, is also a dedicated champion of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and access. With a deep understanding of the value and importance of diversity in higher education, Dr. Reddick embodies UT’s commitment to building a stronger, more inclusive and more supportive environment for all students.
You can learn more about Dr. Reddick and his new position in this UT news release.
We’d also like to take this opportunity to thank Dr. Brent Iverson for his leadership during this transition. Dr. Iverson served as interim senior vice provost and dean since July 2021 after serving as dean of the School of Undergraduate Studies since 2013. As dean of UGS, Dr. Iverson was instrumental to the university’s efforts to improve graduation and retention rates while launching innovative programs — such as Signature Courses, Flags and Bridging Disciplines programs — that in many ways have set the national standard for excellence in the core curriculum. And as interim SVP and dean for the past seven months, he has provided sound, strategic direction as we implement a more holistic approach to the undergraduate academic mission.
Please join us in thanking Dr. Iverson for his outstanding service and congratulating Dr. Reddick on his new leadership appointment.
Thanks, and Hook ’em!
