Honored to be selected as UT Austin’s 31st President
Dear Longhorns,
The University of Texas at Austin transforms lives. It certainly has for me. Growing up in the shadow of the Tower, attending as a student alongside my wife, Teresa, and seeing our children learn and work on campus, I have a profound reverence for our University and an unwavering commitment to its mission.
I am honored to be selected as the 31st President of The University of Texas at Austin. It is an incredible and solemn privilege to be charged with carrying forward our commitment to excellence that was built and sustained by generations of Longhorns. I am deeply grateful for the trust and support of UT System Board of Regents Chairman Kevin Eltife, the members of our Board of Regents, and UT System Chancellor John Zerwas. I could never repay this University for all it has given me and three generations of my family, but I will give it all I have.
In this season of change, the future of UT Austin is bright. We are ready to thrive in every aspect of our mission: in the education of our students, in groundbreaking research, and in world-class medical education and care. We offer boundless student experiences, we advance the frontiers of knowledge, we are home to the most successful college athletics program in the country, and more than 600,000 living alumni are changing the world for the better every day. We know this is the greatest University on earth, and yet we firmly believe even greater is ahead of us.
I look forward to continuing to visit with you about how, together, we build the future of UT Austin. For now, please know that I am truly grateful to serve our students, patients, faculty, staff, and the people of Texas.
Hook ’em!
Jim Davis
President
